As the serving City Manager for the City of McCook over the past 9 years, I cannot emphasize enough the important role the McCook Chamber of Commerce plays in McCook’s economic vitality and its citizens’ improved quality of lives. From a community well-being perspective, the City of McCook’s sales tax receipts have been used to fund projects at the Senior Center, Public Library, various City parks and ballparks, Auditorium, Airport, and other public spaces throughout our municipality. Without the Chamber advocating for our local businesses, the City of McCook’s financial resources would be negatively impacted, detrimentally effecting McCook’s residents.

We love to help sponsor local events and the Chamber gives us a variety of low-cost options to do so through great events. Through parades and other events, the Chamber helps us get our name and faces out in the community in ways we couldn’t otherwise.

Being a part of a small thriving community has so many benefits. Joining the Chamber has allowed us to meet and work with many different business owners. Proving time and time again that together we can all succeed, it’s contagious and extremely beneficial! I hope that we continue to grow and thrive and believe that it is essential we all join together.

The McCook Chamber of Commerce is a wonderful resource to businesses and our community overall. They are creative and supportive in their efforts to foster business through involvement, education, and multiple resources. The addition of coordinating promotions and events for Crazy Days, Winter Wonderland, Bash on the Hills, and Heritage Days, only adds to the value of membership in the Chamber.

For us being a member of the chamber is about a collective of ideas and strategy to grow, protect and nurture our local economy. My challenge to chamber members is to find at least one annual event or promotion to really get behind and jump in with full force.
