McCook, Nebraska, March 10, 2021 – The YMCA of McCook (YMCA) is happy to announce that it has partnered with the McCook Midget Baseball Association (MMBA) to host girls youth softball in 2021. The objective of this partnership is to generate opportunities for area youth to engage in the sport of softball at the recreational level beyond the introductory phase.
The McCook Midget Baseball Association will once again offer T-Softball for Pre-K & Kindergartners, and Sluggers Softball for 1st & 2nd graders in 2021. The leagues will be run by MMBA officials and provide the YMCA with an opportunity to reintroduce itself the to the youth softball landscape. The YMCA will assume full responsibility of league direction beginning in 2022, with support from MMBA. The long-term goal of the partnership is to introduce progressive age divisions that provide additional playing opportunities for girls beyond the 2nd grade.
“We are extremely excited to partner with a credible organization like the McCook Midget Baseball Association,” said Mitch Gross, CEO, YMCA of McCook. “This partnership will help address the need to provide additional youth softball opportunities for girls in our community. We understand that in order for the YMCA to take the next step, it needs to be done strategically, and partnering with MMBA will help us get there.”
2022 will see the creation of divisions for 3rd/4th and 5th/6th grades for participants beyond the current established age groups of Pre/K and 1st/2nd. The YMCA is also looking to establish training opportunities for coaches and participants via camps and clinics to provide advancement opportunities.
Registration is now open for Girls T-Softball (Pre-K/Kindergarten) and Girls Sluggers Softball (1st/2nd Grade) at mccookbaseball.sportssignup.com.
